The penultimate roadmap update of the year packs some highs and lows again, as well as an awesome announcement…
First off, some bad news. We decided to disband the Global Endurance Cup after a series of issues amongst the drivers and towards the stewards. For now, this means the end of leagues run by Global Endurance Modding.
At the same time, we founded our very own sim racing team: Global Endurance Racing. Currently, we have 9 drivers and 7 of us will be driving during the VMG 1000 Miles of Sebring on December 5th. Check out the announcements on our Discord for information how you can follow our progress during the race. Interested to join our team? Send me (Danny de Haas) a DM on Discord and we’ll discuss the requirements and details.
Work on the Ginetta is coming along nicely. No promises on a release date yet, but it might be sooner than you think. We’re hard at work to finalize the details on the model and specific physics are on their way as well.
The Global Endurance Mod hasn’t been updated for a while now. We are happy with the file structure and BOP right now. When we release our Ginetta, the current LMP1 car will be BOP’d with the Ginetta and we are still planning to include a 2020 Le Mans skinpack. An expansion with the LMH class and the skins from the 2021 WEC season are planned for 2021.
We have an important update in the works for our version of Kyalami, mainly focused on fixing some issues with the AIW, making the AI a bit faster and less prone to incidents in the process. This update is due to be uploaded this month.
And now it’s time for the big announcement. We are very proud to announce that Global Endurance Modding will be hosting 5 major events in 2021. You can expect at least one iconic event from each of these famous championships in endurance racing: ELMS, Intercontinental GT Challenge, IMSA & WEC.
The first of these events will be the GEM 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on 19 and 20 February 2021. It will be a WEC style race with LMP1, LMP2, GTE Pro and GTE Am, using the same method the Global Endurance Mod is based on. Entries will consist of 2 or 3 drivers and need to use a custom livery. More information about the race and the sign-up process will be announced on our Discord and here on the website early next week.
As it stands, the other events will take place at Silverstone (ELMS), Le Mans (WEC), Kyalami (GT3) and Daytona (IMSA). That is if we manage to either update an existing version of Daytona or create our own version from scratch. Our backup for Daytona will be Sebring.
Hopefully, this is the beginning of a tradition to replicate the most iconic endurance races in rFactor 2 for years to come.
