Roadmap Update March

Another month has passed, so it's time for another roadmap update. We have some very important decisions coming up this month, as well as a few exciting announcements. Above all, we have our GEM 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps coming up at the 30th of April and the 1st of May. Let's get started, shall we?

Let's start with some less positive news. We are a very small modding team and we have taken on a lot of work. Because we don't want our quality to suffer, we have decided to take things slow on the Global Endurance Mods. That means that it will take a few months for any big updates to arrive to those mods in the form of the Le Mans 2020 grid being added. Our current expectations are that we'll be able to get you that grid around August.

Last month, we have brought a few new updates for the Ginetta, bringing the car even more alive and fixing some fundamental issues with the previous versions of the car. Another big update is on its way. Some graphical updates will most likely be released before the GEM 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, another physics update will be released after the event.

Our new LMP1 car

Most of you will want to know by now what the LMP1 car is that we are currently developing. I won't tell you yet, but I'll give you some indication on when we will announce and release the car.

The announcement of the car will be made during the broadcast of the GEM 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on May 1st. The car will be released about a month and a half before our big GEM Le Mans 24, which will be the debut race of that car alongside the Ginetta.

GEM Business Model

I know some of you will not be happy with the next part of this roadmap. I do want to stress that it is the right way to go forward with our team. We want to increase the quality and quantity of our content, as well as develop the organization of our events and other special things we have in store for our community.

To be able to achieve that, we are looking into the possibilities of monetising our cars and tracks. We are looking at a price between €1 and €3 for the cars and about €4 to €6 for our tracks, which we think is very reasonable. The profits of the sales will be invested into the improvement of our workflow and the quality of our mods. That means that we will use the profits to buy new software, hardware, 3D models and we are even looking into proper licensing for the content we are creating.

We are currently working out all of the details. You can find a poll on our Discord server, which will be leading in the determination of the prices. The new LMP1 car will be the first content that will be offered at a small price. The currently available content will of course still be available for free.

GEM 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps - Take 2

After the disaster that was our first attempt at our first 6-hour race, we are pulling out all the stops to make sure that the second iteration of our 6 Hours of Spa will be a success. The event will take place on April 30th and May 1st. We will have a full grid of 48 cars battling it out in LMP1, LMP2, GTE Pro and GTE Am.

We will also host a Support Race with LMP3 and GT3 cars on Saturday morning. Sign-up for this race is still open. More details can be found on our Discord server.

Find out all about the event here.

Besides all those updates, we are also still working on the Fuji Speedway, as well as some updates for our other mods. We will elaborate on those on our Discord server and in our next roadmap updates. Until the next one!
